We’re not stupid. We know we’re treading on hallowed ground here. This conflict is a combination of all those subjects we avoid at the holidays: politics, religion, racism, war. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the most hotly contested issue in any setting, but that is the very reason we must confront it.

As a collaborative, evolving movement, Aware! is inclusive. We want our discussion to be as open to as many perspectives as possible to get an accurate look at the complexity of this conflict, and the humanity of those who are affected by it. As a multi-contributor site, we must make the disclaimer that the content on this site represents the opinions and experiences of each specific author, and may not represent the opinions of Aware! as an organization.

Still, we know from experience where these conversations could lead. Too often the anonymity of the internet is used as an excuse to spout hateful and inappropriate diatribes – this conflict is tragic enough without those contributions.

For that reason, Aware! reserves the right to delete comments, and if necessary, ban commenters that are actively engaging in blatantly racist, violent, or offensive behavior on our site. We will not, however, censor content merely because we disagree.

When sending us your posts, understand that we are open to honest confrontation of prejudices and pre-conceived stereotypes. We’re not unreasonable. If we believe your contributions to be unnecessarily offensive, we will give you the option of editing and resubmitting. When commenting, be kind to your internet neighbor by avoiding personal attacks and offensive language. We’re all here to learn from each other – to do so, we must treat each other with respect.

Feel free to send any questions, complaints, or suggestions to us here.
